About the Role:

Tradewind is collaborating with an excellent Catholic School in the Werribee area, offering a unique opportunity. We are actively seeking a year 9 Integration/Humanities teacher- an alternative program offering learning through experience with meaningful inquiry-based, student centred-curriculum. The role beginning mid Term 2, is a full time opportunity, with the possibility of an ongoing contract. Key duties:

  • Design and implement an integrated curriculum that combines multiple subject areas, allowing students to make connections between different disciplines and engage in interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Foster a student-centered learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore topics of interest, and conduct research to deepen their understanding of concepts and issues.
  • Develop and facilitate hands-on, experiential learning opportunities that enable students to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world contexts.
  • Collaborate with local community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders to identify opportunities for students to engage in meaningful community actions, service-learning projects, and volunteer initiatives.
  • Develop authentic assessment methods that allow students to demonstrate their understanding and skills through performance tasks, projects, portfolios, and presentations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to coordinate and align curriculum units, learning activities, and assessments across subject areas, ensuring coherence and integration within the program.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in curriculum integration, inquiry-based learning, experiential education, and student-centered pedagogy.

Skills & Experience:

  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
  • Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Secondary Humanities
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
