🌈 Specialist Children's Practitioner - Family Violence Refuge
📍 Location: Epping / South Morang
🕒 Part-Time | 0.6 EFT (Wednesday-Friday)
💰 SCHADS Level 5.1 - Approx. $100k FTE + Super
📞 Shared after-hours on-call roster (approximately once every 6 weeks)
⏰ Flexible working hours between 8am-6pm to support refuge operations
A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced and compassionate practitioner to join a specialist family violence refuge supporting women and children in Melbourne's northern suburbs.
This role is focused on supporting children who have experienced family violence through therapeutic, child-centred and trauma-informed practice. You will work closely with families within the refuge setting, providing assessments, case management, parenting support and therapeutic interventions that strengthen safety, wellbeing and recovery.
🌱 About the Role
As the Specialist Children's Practitioner, you will:
- Provide case management support to children residing in refuge
- Complete child-focused risk and needs assessments
- Develop case plans and therapeutic support strategies
- Facilitate therapeutic groups and interventions for children
- Support parents through coaching, psychoeducation and parenting guidance
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary family violence team
- Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing and supportive refuge environment
💜 About You
To be successful, you will have:
- A relevant Bachelor qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or similar
- Direct experience working with children, particularly younger children
- Strong understanding of child development, trauma and attachment
- Experience providing parenting support and therapeutic interventions
- Knowledge or experience within the family violence sector, ideally within refuge settings
- Ability to work onsite and participate in a shared on-call roster
