Job Description
About the role:
Work with vulnerable children, young people and their families who are being impacted by disadvantage including poverty, trauma, substance abuse, mental health and family violence and are potentially at risk of becoming involved with the Child Protection system or are already involved with child protection.
- Hold you own caseload of families and work alongside them to develop & implement strategies to support them with their goals
- Provide assertive outreach with families that are difficult to engage
- Undertake risk and safety assessments to identify potential risk factors for children and young people, in line with the Best Interests Practice Framework
- Liaise with multiple stakeholders and family services agencies
You must have:
- A Diploma in Community Services or related
- Experience working with children and families that have been affected by mental health, drug & alcohol, family violence, or require parenting supports to prevent further involvement with child protection.
- Ability to carry out strength-based risk assessments, crisis intervention and case management skills
- Knowledge of relevant strategies and frameworks such as children's developmental needs, parent skill development, AOD recovery, the cycle of violence, crisis planning and best interests.
