Job Description

Occupational Therapist / Psychologist / Speech Pathologist

  • Irabina Autism Services
  • Community Services role - clinic-based
  • Ongoing permanent positions available
  • Full time preferred

(however, would still like to hear from 3 or 4 day a week applicants)

  • The team describes themselves as approachable, collaborative and strongly supportive of each other
  • Clinic-based usually, with some school or community work if required/wanted
  • Bayswater - Stud Road location - Amazing new purpose-built facility
  • Package includes = Salary + super, salary packaging and invaluable $1500 CPD

What does the role look like day to day?

You would conduct complex clinical assessments and manage a clinical caseload providing professional services to families and children impacted by ASD & specialist consultancy to clinical staff in the management of children up to the age of 18 with ASD, most aged 0-12 years old. You would see approx. 5 clients a day and work in a family centred approach. You'd need to document all assessment and intervention information consistent with Irabina policies. You'll also be able to undertake education sessions for families, team members and community members to improve outcomes for children with an ASD, create resources for families and children to take away and there's also potential to be involved in school visits or home visits too. The team usually work in close proximity so the person right for this role will really enjoy working in a team and bouncing ideas and supporting each other. In terms of meetings with the team, they attend regular team meetings and contribute to team and Irabina-wide planning and evaluation of services. The clients are funded through NDIS, so confirming client facing work, report writing and creating/making resources are all billable.

What are they main challenges for this role?

Challenges of the role can be working with varying complexities of autism, as well as the fact the clients are funded by the NDIS, so having to work within the amount of funding is sometimes a challenge, hence the need to create resourced and work in a family centred approach.

What's different about Irabina compared to other roles/orgs I'm considering?

They have retained 100% of employees during this uncertain time. And also grown in some teams too. They are open minded, flexible and assess the market a lot to stay competitive. A lot of NDIS roles seem to be community-based unless for private practices / smaller entities, however, this is clinic-based with large multi-disciplinary teams, so if you are missing the team factor from being out on the road, this role has it. This is a large not for profit organisation that really cares and they have so much professional development to offer, the team moral and friendly buzz/vibe in the clinic is something that was really apparent when we visited. Irabina has fantastic facilities, indoor gym, outside playground and 50 clinical rooms.

What you get in return:

  • Work with an organisation who have retained 100% of employees during this situation and also grown in some areas
  • Salary packaging and competitive pay within the NFP space
  • Continuous professional development provided
  • Clinical supervision by experienced staff members
  • Large emphasis on team inclusiveness and collaboration - weekly team meetings and peer supervision too
  • Work for a growing organisation = career progression opportunities

In order to be eligible to apply you must have:

Essential:

  • Bachelor in Speech Pathology / Psychology / Occupational Therapy
  • Full working rights in Australia
  • AHPRA membership / SPA membership
