The Role:
Tradewind is seeking a passionate and dedicated 7-12 English teacher to join a highly respected independent grammar school in Melbourne's West. Key Duties:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 7-12, focusing on developing students' skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing.
- Teach text analysis and interpretation by exploring themes, characters, literary techniques, and socio-cultural contexts across a variety of literary genres, including novels, plays, poetry, non-fiction, and media texts.
- Guide students in writing sophisticated analytical essays, structuring arguments, incorporating textual evidence, and refining critical interpretations through planning, drafting, and revision.
- Develop students' oral communication and critical thinking skills through class discussions, debates, and presentations while fostering a deeper appreciation for literature.
- Instruct students in grammar, syntax, and language conventions to enhance their writing and communication skills across different text types.
- Encourage creative and independent thinking through activities such as poetry analysis, storytelling exercises, and research projects.
- Prepare students for VCE English assessments and exams, including the end-of-year examination for Units 3-4, through targeted strategies and skill development.
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and ensure all students achieve their potential.
- Collaborate with colleagues and faculty members to share resources, strategies, and best practices for delivering high-quality English education.
Skills & Experience:
- Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Teaching Qualifications
- Current VIT registration
- Have at least 2 years experience teaching Secondary English in Australia
- Ability to provide contact details for at least two education-based references from within the last 5 years
