Speech Pathologist - NextSense

NextSense is a not-for-profit and registered NDIS provider that provides dedicated, innovative, and customised services aimed at breaking down barriers for children, adults and families of people with hearing loss and Vision loss (hearing loss only in Victoria). NextSense has been operating since 1860, formerly Taralye, Royal Institute for the Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) and Early Education Program (EEP).

NextSense is seeking experienced and new grad Speech Pathologists to join the Moonee Ponds office, currently 5 Speechies plus admin staff.

The role:

  • Working with clients that are deaf or have loss of hearing - Majority school-aged and early intervention clients - Some adults receiving Cochlear Implants
  • Providing clinical services including individual sessions, group sessions and assessments that focus on achieving speech
  • Working closely with families, capacity building and parent coaching
  • Clients have already been diagnosed by hearing Australia and are in the process of getting hearing aids or Cochlear implants
  • Focus on audible communication - Auslan is not used in this program, but clients may be learning this outside of the program
  • NDIS clients through the hearing loss revenue stream - Much simpler process compared to developmental delays in terms of paperwork
  • Mix of work - In-clinic, school and home visits
  • Extensive training and professional development provided to get up to speed in the area of deaf and hearing loss, through the NextSense institute
  • An extremely supportive environment with ongoing supervision and professional development
  • Opportunities to get involved with research programs - Strong relationship with Macquarie University
  • Moonee Ponds location - Servicing the west and Northern Suburbs
  • Fleet vehicle available

    • Ranges from $67,000 to $106,000 depending on experience

About you

  • Degree in Speech Pathology
  • New Graduates welcome - New Graduate program
  • Current registration with Speech Pathology Australia or equivalent body
  • Drivers licence
  • Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check in accordance with Victorian Child Protection legislation
  • Demonstrated Speech Pathology experience in a range of settings - Open to transferable experience
