Responsibilities:
As a Family Support Specialist, you will:
๐ค Provide center-based and outreach support for children, young people, and their families.
๐ Utilize a range of therapeutic and case management supports to reduce risk and increase protective factors, with a focus on child and adolescent mental health.
๐ Implement a holistic and family-centered approach to ensure comprehensive support.
๐ Deliver psycho-social and skills-based educational seminars and group work for families, covering topics such as mental health literacy, relationships, parenting, and positive development.
๐ Support the design, delivery, and implementation of evidence-based and intentional family-based programs.
๐ Implement community engagement and development approaches to build supportive pathways for vulnerable communities and families.
Requirements:
๐ Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Family Therapy, or Psychology, or further training related to family work.
๐ Minimum of three years' experience in the family services and/or mental health sectors.
๐ก Demonstrated knowledge and application of evidence-based therapeutic approaches for individuals, couples, families, with a specific focus on children and young people.
๐ค Proven experience in providing supportive counseling and case work for children and families with multiple and complex needs, including mental health and family violence issues.
๐ Genuine interest and commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, LGBTIQ, refugee, culturally diverse families, and other higher-risk cohorts.
