Mentoring

To be a successful education recruitment firm in Melbourne, we believe that simply finding the best teaching jobs is not enough. Our goal is to develop and nurture our teachers so they can realise their full potential and thrive in a career they love.

That’s why Tradewind Australia is proud to have started a mentoring service (for all our CRTs to benefit from) alongside our professional development courses. As relief teaching positions have their own set of challenges and rewards, our goal was to support those in CRT careers under the support of two experienced industry leaders.

Spearheaded by former Principals Billy Green and Terry Twomey, our mentoring service helps to shape the future generations of teachers and educators, offering valuable advice and insights no matter what stage of your career you are in. With many years of experience, both of our mentors are ideally positioned to provide insights on primary teaching as well as secondary teacher support:

Billy Green: Primary Teacher Mentor

Billy worked for the Victorian Department of Education from 1981 until 2014. He has tenures as Principal Class Officer as well as Assistant, Acting and Co-Principal – spanning over 15 years. His focus is on mentoring CRTs as part of our teaching recruiting services, visiting and working with schools to improve CRT performance and outcomes for students. Part of his program is planning and delivering professional development sessions, including classroom management, working in special schools, and strategizing how schools can get the most from their CRT budgets. Billy also works with schools to develop podcasts to improve CRT performance apart of his remit.

Terry Twomey: Secondary Teacher Mentor

Terry worked for the Victorian Department of Education from 1973 until late 2017. He has taught in both rural and metropolitan secondary schools and has worked as both a regional consultant and a part-time lecturer in Education (University of Melbourne) for 10 years. Terry was a Secondary School Principal for 18 years and has extensive experience mentoring and developing staff. His focus is on mentoring CRTs within secondary education which includes visiting and working with schools to improve CRT performance and outcomes for students. Other programs include planning and delivering professional development sessions, including classroom management, working in special schools and strategizing how high schools can get the most from CRT budgets.
