Job Description
We are currently seeking a Child and Family Practitioner for a fixed term contract, commencing ASAP until 30th June, 2026.
This role is ideal for someone who brings trauma-informed, strengths-based practice to their work with children and families, and who is passionate about early intervention and family preservation.
This position is based in Melbourne Northern suburbs.
About the Role
As a Child and Family Practitioner, you will:
Deliver tailored, holistic support to families, focusing on child wellbeing, parenting capacity, and family stability.
Manage a caseload of up to 10 families.
Undertake outcomes-focused assessments, case planning and case management.
Apply an evidence-informed Coaching Framework to build capacity and create sustainable change.
Facilitate evidence-based group programs and work collaboratively with partner agencies, including child protection, mental health, family violence, AOD, and disability services.
What We're Looking For
Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Family Services or related field.
Experience in child and family services, including work with complex needs such as family violence, mental health or AOD.
Commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, with an understanding of Aboriginal cultural protocols.
Sound understanding of MARAM, the child protection system, and relevant legislation.
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build therapeutic relationships with children, parents, and partner services.
Full Victorian driver's licence and a current Working with Children Check.
