Position: Casual Disability Support Worker
Location: Eastern and South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne
About Us: Tradewind is seeking compassionate and experienced Disability Support Workers to join our dedicated team. We provide quality home care services to individuals with diverse abilities, focusing on personalised, person-centered support to enhance their daily lives.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Ability to support learning and development, fostering independence, daily living skills, community access, and meaningful employment.
- Experience and willingness to implement creative, high-quality person-centered active support with a focus on individualized outcomes.
- Excellent working knowledge of the Disability Act 2006 (Vic).
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and engage with key stakeholders, including individuals and their extended care team.
- Proven ability to work across all disabilities and complex support needs, particularly with individuals having intellectual disabilities, schizophrenic and/or on the Autism Spectrum.
- Proven experience in 1:1 support and small team settings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in clear and concise English.
- Proficient in using computers, iPhones, and iPads.
- Experience and demonstrated knowledge of the Positive Behaviour Support approach.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Ability to build strong rapport with individuals, their carers, and extended care teams.
- Competencies in positive behaviour support, anxiety management, and assisting individuals in mood regulation.
- Competencies in areas of complex needs and multiple disabilities.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering person-centered active support.
- Valid First Aid and CPR
- A positive attitude towards life.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and be organized.
Requirements:
- Full work rights in Australia.
- Full Victorian Driver's License with a clean driving history and a reliable roadworthy car.
- Availability for various shifts throughout the week (up to 38hrs per week), including weekends, afternoons, evenings, and public holidays.
- Two contactable referees (Senior team member).
- National police check or willingness to undergo a check.
- Working with children check.
- Minimum certificate IV in Disability or relevant qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Disability Support Worker.
- First Aid and CPR
