About the Role:
Are you studying to be a Primary teacher or an experienced Primary Learning Support Officer, looking for a truly unique working experience? A wonderful opportunity awaits an experienced and dedicated Education Support person to work in an excellent and truly global Independent School in Berwick, situated in Melbourne's southeast. Commencing this term, the contract extends until the year's end, with potential for extension into the new year. This role involves supporting students within middle Primary in one-on-one instruction, small group work and general classroom assistance.
The school, renowned globally with 125 campuses worldwide and a student body of over 9000, prides itself on its innovative approach to education. The Berwick Campus, the largest in Victoria, serves local students as well as those from nearby regions such as Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne, Sunbury, and Werribee. With dedicated learning spaces for both middle Primary and Secondary education, the campus currently accommodates 225 students onsite.
Key duties:
Providing support to teachers by assisting with classroom management, lesson preparation, and instructional activities.
Work with small groups of students, providing one-on-one assistance, or helping to implement differentiated instruction strategies in Literacy and Numeracy on a needs-by-needs basis.
Monitor students during lunch breaks, recess, and other non-instructional times to ensure their safety and well-being.
Provide additional support to students who may require special accommodations or interventions due to learning disabilities, behavioural challenges, or other needs.
Assist with the administration of assessments and tracking student progress to identify areas where additional support may be needed.
Encourage positive behaviour and student engagement through praise, encouragement, and reinforcement of desired behaviours.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to develop and implement strategies for meeting the diverse needs of students in a challenging school environment.
Skills & Experience:
Must have at least 2 years experience working within a Primary setting preferably on a contract basis
We welcome applications from student teachers towards the end of their Education/Teaching degrees
Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
Completed relevant Qualifications in Education Support - minimum certificate III or IV or currently enrolled in Tertiary Study
Demonstrate previous experience with working with small groups of Primary students
Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years
