We're looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to lead the management and development of facilities across a large, independent co-educational school in Melbourne's north-west. With enrolments set to exceed 3,000 students across two campuses, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the school's growth and future.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Business Manager, you'll oversee the safety, functionality and presentation of all buildings, grounds, and infrastructure. This role is both strategic and hands-on - leading a dedicated team, managing capital works, and driving sustainability and compliance initiatives to ensure a safe, welcoming, and future-focused environment for students, staff, and the wider community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading maintenance and grounds teams across multi-campus operations
- Planning and delivering capital works, refurbishments, and infrastructure upgrades
- Managing budgets, contractors, vendors, and service providers
- Ensuring compliance with WHS, Essential Safety Measures, and all regulatory requirements
- Driving environmental sustainability initiatives and long-term asset planning
- Supporting school operations, logistics, and events
Skills/Experience
You're a skilled facilities leader with the ability to balance day-to-day operations alongside long-term planning and project delivery. You'll bring:
- Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications in facilities management, construction, engineering, or a related discipline (WHS or project management qualifications desirable)
- Experience managing facilities across large or multi-site organisations (education or similar ideal)
- A track record in delivering capital works and infrastructure projects on time and on budget
- Strong leadership and people management skills to motivate and guide operational teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management, and compliance standards
