Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? We're looking for a dedicated individuals to join our brand new Program in Cairns, working with young people aged 10-16 years (and their families) who have been involved in the youth justice system and are disengaged from schooling.
This is your chance to be part of a wraparound, trauma-informed program that helps young people re-connect with education, build skills, and create safer, brighter futures.
As a Youth/Family Specialist, you will:
- Deliver quality youth work services using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach.
- Build trusting, supportive relationships with young people and their families.
- Facilitate activities that promote wellbeing, life skills, and positive youth development.
- Provide referrals, practical support, and advocacy to address complex needs.
- Work alongside a team of teachers, family support workers, and community partners to create holistic pathways for young people, and their families.
- Maintain accurate case notes, data, and reporting to measure impact and outcomes.
What You'll Bring
- Experience working with young people, particularly those in contact with the youth justice system and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young peopleand families.
- Skills in youth work or case management, with a sound understanding of intergenerational trauma.
- Strong communication, time management, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to child protection, safeguarding, and cultural safety.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience facilitating group programs or youth activities. (desirable)
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, or a related field (or significant relevant experience)
- Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- National Police Check (satisfactory)
- Current Driver's Licence
