Job Description

Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner: Townsville

SCHADS 6= $55.73 per hour, plus salary packaging, plus sign on bonus, and $2500 above award allowance!


About the role:

  • Provide information, support, counselling, and mediation to separating couples and families.
  • Facilitate negotiations that prioritise the best interests of children and young people.
  • Conduct intake, risk, and needs assessments in line with the Family Law Act 1975 and FDRP Regulations 2008.
  • Deliver child-focused mediation using relevant frameworks and best practice standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, case notes, and reporting in line with organisational and legislative requirements.
  • Build positive networks and promote services across the community.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, values-driven team environment.


To be successful, you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Law, Family Dispute Resolution or Mediation.
  • Accreditation as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (or eligibility to obtain registration).
  • Demonstrated experience in family dispute resolution and child-inclusive practices.
  • Strong communication, assessment, and case management skills.
  • The ability to maintain professional standards in line with legislation and FDR accreditation requirements.
  • A current driver's licence, Blue Card, and ability to obtain a Disability Worker Screening clearance.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the not-for-profit or community services sector.
  • Skills in education, group facilitation, or working with diverse cultural and social contexts.
