Broken Hill, NSW | Full-time Fixed Term (12 months ongoing)

Salary: $88,378 - $105,047 + Super + Salary Packaging | Start Date: ASAP

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and community-minded Generalist Solicitor to join their highly respected Community Legal Centre based in Broken Hill. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a solicitor who wants to go beyond the courtroom and work at the heart of real social justice change.

What You'll Do

  • Provide free legal information, advice and casework to clients across Far West NSW

  • Act as a duty lawyer at Broken Hill and Wilcannia courts (e.g. family law, tenancy, minor traffic matters, and domestic violence)

  • Conduct community outreach to Wilcannia, Menindee, Ivanhoe, Tibooburra and White Cliffs (always with team support)

  • Support legal education and contribute to law reform and advocacy initiatives

  • Work closely with social services, health professionals, and community workers

  • Be part of a enthusiastic team committed to community mental health and wellbeing

About You

  • Eligible for (or currently hold) a NSW Practising Certificate

  • 1-2+ years post-admission experience (generalist background ideal)

  • Courtroom experience is essential - particularly in family law and DV-related matters

  • Strong understanding of the social issues facing disadvantaged communities

  • Self-driven, resilient, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Comfortable managing your own caseload and using legal case management systems

  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel for outreach (up to 3 hours from base)
