Job Description

The Learning and Therapeutic Training Officer is responsible for delivering training across our services both for organisational needs through to building therapeutic capability to ensure required operational capability across our services. This will be accomplished by providing best practice methodologies, templates, and tools to enable consistent workplace-based training and development interventions.


To perform within our roles, Safe Places PCF describes the necessary capabilities. We have three main groupings of capability: strategy, leadership and service delivery. We believe mastering the routine and day to day of service delivery is incredibly important but recognise your value as extending beyond these key accountabilities.

Our Learning & Therapeutic Training Officer will be responsible to:

  • Conduct training and coaching sessions tailored to your assigned area and occasionally interstate (may require travel). Training will encompass technical aspects such as regulatory, compliance and Safe Places protocols including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) i.e. induction programs, refreshers, and soft skills development including coaching, leadership, and communication.
  • Lead and coordinate the deployment of learning solutions in a clear, consistent manner, aimed at enhancing leadership, behaviours, and overall performance.
  • Assist with the design and development of learning
  • Offer suggestions and recommendations for Learning & Development improvements, including updates to learning materials, resources, and related tools.
  • Support with collation of robust metrics and data evaluation.
  • Regularly coordinate with the RTO partner and their trainers to ensure successful completion rates for currently enrolled Safe Places students.
  • Partner with various departments in the organisation to integrate learning initiatives with overall strategy, ensuring a seamless service delivery.

This role requires upholding confidential information in trust and confidence, working within Safe Places Vision, Mission, Values and Code of Conduct. For this role you may be required to perform other duties as assigned by the direct line manager.

Role requirements:

* Hold a Diploma or higher-level qualification in a Community Service field.
* Hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or willing to obtain it.
* Minimum Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
* Exceptional experience working in residential care and valuable experience in a training or coaching role.
* Experience in design, development, implementation, and evaluation of learning initiatives.
* Proficiently lead workshops and employ diverse learning methods to facilitate effective knowledge transfer.
* Demonstrated understanding and application of child development and complex trauma and its impact on children and young people in out of home care.
* Demonstrated understanding of diversity in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
* Enthusiastic and driven learner, with a zeal for excellence.
* Excellent communicator (verbal, written and listening) with the ability to quickly build rapport with team members and stakeholders.
* Desirable- Experience in managing LMS and authoring tools

Travel across the 3 regions (North, South and Bunbury) will be required, however the day to day will be based at the head office in Canning Vale. If this sounds like a good fit for you, please apply now!
