Intake & Assessment Worker (Foster & Kinship Care)
4 days per week | $55.73 per hour | Locum contract | ASAP until 24/12/25 | Brisbane South region
We're seeking an experienced professional with strong knowledge of the child safety system and a proven track record in foster and kinship care. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can hit the ground running, working at the first point of contact for enquiries and assessments while facilitating the best possible placement matches for children and young people.
In this role, you will:
- Respond to foster and kinship care enquiries and guide prospective carers through the initial assessment process
- Facilitate out-of-home care placements by matching children with the most suitable carers
- Provide information, support, and referral pathways for community members
- Contribute to a range of human services projects requiring strong administrative and organisational skills
- Work collaboratively with a dedicated intake and assessment team to deliver high-quality service to families and carers
To be successful, you will have:
- Relevant Bachelor in Social Work, Human Services (or relevant recognised qualification)
- Extensive experience in the child protection and foster/kinship care sector, including placement matching
- Strong understanding of out-of-home care systems, legislation, and standards
- Experience conducting assessments for carers and working in partnership with stakeholders
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- A strengths-based, culturally responsive approach to working with families and carers
- Valid Australian Drivers Licence
- Current Blue Card
- Current Police Check (or willingness to get one)
- LCS2 (or willingness and ability to get one)
- Availability required on Thursdays and Fridays, the remaining two days can be negotiated
