Tradewind Australia is currently working in partnership with Life Without Barriers, a charitable organisation supporting close to 23,000 people living in over 400 communities across the nation. They provide people with the services and assistance they need so they can achieve their goals and maximise their opportunities to participate as fully in society as they wish. They partner with communities, elders, government and the private sector to ensure we can achieve positive long-term change in the lives of people we work with.
Based in Darwin, we are presently accepting applications from experienced Managers in the community sector who have worked with vulnerable community members experiencing disengagement, disadvantage and complex needs.
This newly created role reports to the Regional Director and is pivotal in the setting up of this new contract to deliver services to young people in residential care due to child protection orders.
The program works with complex youths who have needs in the areas of intellectual disability, developmental delay, alcohol foetal syndrome, ABI, trauma, mental health and involvement in the justice system and are in residential units run by Life Without Barriers. The units have Youth Workers and House Leaders delivering front line support.
There will be a team of Therapeutic Practitioners reporting directly into the Operations Manager who manage the care and experience that the young people receive and cultural advisors assist in ensuring culturally appropriate care is provided.
As the Operations Manager, you will lead by example and ensure the program is run to budget and that legislation is applied correctly. As a newly created program, the teams will be new so the ability to build and strengthen teams is essential.
Although based in Darwin, regular travel is required to Alice Springs and other regional locations.
About you:
You will be a people leader with business and operational management experience in the community sector with a strong knowledge of legislation and the issues young people experience in residential care. You will be values-driven promoting diversity and will work within the CARE framework model.
