Job Description
The purpose of the position is to provide one to one counselling to individuals, couples and children. The counsellor will work with individuals affected by family relationship issues. This includes the affected individual and their immediate family; conducting client assessments and setting therapeutic goals; collaborating with team members in case discussions; managing client loads per service agreements; and maintaining professional client records and confidentiality. The role also involves preparing reports, participating in meetings, program planning, and policy development, maintaining knowledge of relevant legislation, and being proficient in computer use for videoconferencing.
About you:
- Hold a relevant tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Behavioural Sciences (with eligibility for professional association membership)
- Strong written and oral communication skills for case planning and advocacy.
- Experience in delivering evidence-based therapeutic counselling, setting goals, and facilitating positive outcomes.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, service delivery models, and best practices.
- A current open driver's licence.
- Current Working with Children Blue Card and Disability Worker Screening/Clearance.
- Ability to work sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and CALD families.
