The Practice Lead will oversee the Counselling and Phone Service, ensuring the provision of high-quality, trauma-informed support to individuals bereaved by suicide. This leadership role involves managing a team, delivering clinical services, and cultivating a collaborative work environment. You will offer direct counselling services, conduct assessments, and provide supervision to staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct bio-psycho-social assessments and risk evaluations for clients.
- Develop individualized care plans and provide ongoing support through one-on-one counselling and group therapy.
- Facilitate support groups for bereaved individuals and families.
- Collaborate with community services and health professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Lead and mentor a team of counsellors, ensuring professional development and a high standard of service delivery.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for best practice care.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in counselling, psychology, social work, or mental health.
- Postgraduate qualification in bereavement counselling.
- A minimum of three years of supervised counselling experience, including team management.
- Current registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., AASW, PACFA, ACA, AHPRA).
- Experience in grief, loss, and trauma counselling, particularly related to suicide bereavement.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, including experience in supervising clinical practices.
- Proven experience in crisis intervention and therapeutic support for diverse populations.
Desirable:
- Master's degree in psychology, social work, or counselling.
- Certification as a Certified Bereavement Practitioner (CBP).
