The Practice Lead will oversee the Counselling and Phone Service, ensuring the provision of high-quality, trauma-informed support to individuals bereaved by suicide. This leadership role involves managing a team, delivering clinical services, and cultivating a collaborative work environment. You will offer direct counselling services, conduct assessments, and provide supervision to staff.



Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct bio-psycho-social assessments and risk evaluations for clients.
  • Develop individualized care plans and provide ongoing support through one-on-one counselling and group therapy.
  • Facilitate support groups for bereaved individuals and families.
  • Collaborate with community services and health professionals to provide comprehensive care.
  • Lead and mentor a team of counsellors, ensuring professional development and a high standard of service delivery.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for best practice care.


Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in counselling, psychology, social work, or mental health.
  • Postgraduate qualification in bereavement counselling.
  • A minimum of three years of supervised counselling experience, including team management.
  • Current registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., AASW, PACFA, ACA, AHPRA).
  • Experience in grief, loss, and trauma counselling, particularly related to suicide bereavement.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including experience in supervising clinical practices.
  • Proven experience in crisis intervention and therapeutic support for diverse populations.

Desirable:

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or counselling.
  • Certification as a Certified Bereavement Practitioner (CBP).
