Located close to public transport, this role is perfect for a teacher who is passionate about working with EAL learners and making a real difference in their settlement and education journey.

Join this vibrant and caring school community today!

Key duties:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive English/EAL curriculum aligned with educational standards and guidelines.
  • Adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students with varying language proficiency levels.
  • Create engaging and effective lesson plans that address the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate students with varying abilities and language backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with learning support staff to address the needs of students with diverse learning requirements.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on language education methodologies, educational technologies, and best practices.

Skills & Experience:

  • Current VIT registration
  • Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Proven experience teaching EAL in a secondary school setting (Australia or NZ)
  • Familiarity with the Catholic education system - highly regarded but not essential
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply - we welcome fresh perspectives!
  • Two education-based references from the past five years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable)

Offering:

  • Full-time preferred - but we're happy to consider 4 days per week for the right candidate
  • Support newly arrived students in Years 7-10 as they develop English skills and settle into school life
  • Work closely with a supportive, transparent leadership team that values your input
  • Take an active role in planning and shaping the direction of the EAL faculty
  • Enjoy a competitive salary, reflective of your experience and dedication

The School:

  • Be part of a vibrant school community with around 600 students across Years 7-10
  • Join a school known for its great academic results and high expectations
