Job Description
Senior Family Intervention Practitioner will provide case support and advice, practice advice, manage complex referrals and cases, and be the first point of contact for team members in relation to casework, safety and risk assessments, and referrals. The position reports directly to the program manager and acts as a regional contact for referrals into and out of the programs, as well as assessment of suitability of referrals and allocation in consultation with the program manager. The Senior Family Intervention Practitioner also provides mentoring to the team and support to the program manager with the implementation of policies, processes, documentation and reporting requirements.
- A relevant social services degree or diploma with at least three years' experience in the social/community services sector.
- Knowledge and experience in using various theoretical frameworks and therapeutic approaches for children, young people, and families.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with diverse service providers and culturally diverse clients, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Understanding of family dynamics across different cultural and social contexts, including the impact of abuse and dysfunction.
- Ability to perform risk assessments related to family functioning and household risks.
- Strong organisational, time management, and administrative skills, with a solid understanding of program procedures and the child protection system.
- A current open driver's licence and valid Working with Children Blue Card and Disability Services Yellow Card.
