About the role;

A remote-based role in Central Australia. supporting up to eight children and young people affected by domestic violence. The worker will provide culturally safe, therapeutic activities (not clinical mental health services) under the guidance of an Anangu co-worker and community members. This role follows the Strengthening Community Capacity to End Violence Framework and a specialised manual.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Manage a caseload of up to 8 children and young people impacted by family and domestic violence.
  • Provide advocacy and support to clients and their families, connecting them with specialist services.
  • Facilitate at least 18 small-group creative and therapeutic activities annually, including on-Country healing sessions.
  • Deliver capacity-building activities to upskill staff in responding to children's needs.
  • Collaborate with an Anangu colleague to support two-way learning and culturally safe practices.
  • Align with the Strengthening Community Capacity to End Violence Framework.
  • Maintain a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally safe approach.

Essential;

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment
  • Experience in trauma-informed case management
  • Knowledge of community development frameworks
  • Experience facilitating therapeutic groupwork for children and young people
  • Understanding of domestic violence impacts on children
  • Ability to work autonomously in a complex setting
  • Knowledge of domestic violence within an Aboriginal Australian context

Qualifications;

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, communitiy development or related field (desirable)
