Team Leader: Youth Justice Support
Location: Cairns
SCHADS 6 (110-115k per annum + salary packaging)
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Team Leader to oversee the delivery of a holistic education and wellbeing service supporting young people aged 10-16 years who have been in contact with the youth justice system and are disengaged from schooling. This role is responsible for leading a team of practitioners, ensuring quality outcomes, strong stakeholder relationships, and safe, effective program delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, supervision, coaching and performance management to a team of practitioners.
- Oversee day-to-day program operations, ensuring service delivery meets contractual and legislative obligations.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on inputs, outputs, and outcomes with accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage program risks, including those relating to quality, staff wellbeing, and child safeguarding.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and referral partners.
- Advocate within the broader service system on behalf of children, parents, and carers.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, child safeguarding requirements, and workplace health and safety standards.
- Contribute to program growth through proposal development and business planning.
What You'll Bring
- Demonstrated experience working with children, young people, and families, particularly those at risk, disengaged, or involved in the justice system.
- Strong leadership skills with experience building, supervising and developing high-performing teams.
- Knowledge of child protection, youth justice, and well-being frameworks.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- High-level stakeholder engagement, consultation, and advocacy skills.
- Experience in rostering, scheduling, and managing resources in line with budgets.
- A commitment to child safety, safeguarding practices, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Degree in behavioural sciences or significant relevant experience.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Satisfactory National Police Check.
