About the Role
This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified position and a meaningful opportunity for an experienced Aboriginal practitioner to provide practice leadership within The Orange Door (TOD) in Mildura.
The Aboriginal Practice Lead plays a key role in strengthening culturally safe, trauma-informed and Aboriginal-led practice across The Orange Door workforce. You will support staff working with Aboriginal children, families and communities impacted by family violence, child protection concerns and complex needs.
This role is about walking alongside practitioners, sharing cultural knowledge, and helping embed Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing into everyday practice ๐ฟ
Key Responsibilities
Provide cultural and practice leadership to The Orange Door workforce
Support culturally safe responses across family violence, child and family services, and perpetrator interventions
Offer secondary consultations to internal staff and external partner services
Strengthen workforce cultural safety, confidence and accountability
Support non-Aboriginal practitioners to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal families
Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal communities and services
Advocate for Aboriginal voices, self-determination and culturally safe systems within TOD
About You
You are an Aboriginal person with strong community connections and experience working in:
Family violence, child and family services, and/or perpetrator interventions
Practice leadership, mentoring or coaching roles
Aboriginal community-controlled or mainstream service settings
You bring cultural authority, confidence and care to your work, and are comfortable supporting others to reflect, learn and grow in culturally safe practice ๐ค๐โค๏ธ
Requirements
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role
Relevant qualifications and/or significant lived and professional experience
Ability to work onsite in Mildura
Working With Children Check and relevant background checks
