About the Role:
Are you a careers counsellor/teacher seeking an excellent opportunity? We have an exciting full-time, ongoing position for a careers counsellor/teacher at a wonderful Catholic school. This role is essential for supporting secondary students in developing their awareness and understanding of the wide range of educational options and career pathways available to them.
As a careers counsellor, you will guide students by providing psychological support, informed advice, and relevant resources to help them make well-rounded decisions about their future careers. In addition to your counselling duties, you will offer comprehensive support in academic planning and selection, provide feedback on academic performance, and assist in facilitating appropriate work placements and training opportunities.

Key duties:
- Help students develop and implement educational and career plans, providing psychological support, informed advice, and relevant resources to guide students in their holistic discernment about future career options
- Guide students in selecting appropriate courses and subjects that align with their career goals.
- Advise on tertiary education options, including universities, TAFE, and apprenticeships.
- Provide up-to-date information on career opportunities, job market trends, and educational pathways.
- Maintain a resource library of career-related information, including brochures, websites, and software.
- Organise and conduct workshops and seminars on topics such as resume writing, interview skills, and job search strategies.
- Coordinate career-related programs, including work experience, internships, and mentorships.
- Liaise with universities, employers, and industry representatives to facilitate student opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, assessments, and career plans.
- Prepare reports on student progress and program effectiveness.
Skills & Experience:
- Qualifications in career counselling
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Valid VIT registration
- Broad knowledge of different career paths
- A demonstrated commitment to work in a Catholic Education environment
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
