Housing & Homelessness Support Worker (Casual)

Pay: $48.31/hr + super (SCHADS Level 3.1) + salary packaging
Location: Kingaroy, QLD
Employment Type: Casual - approximately 15 hours per week

Tradewind Australia is partnering with a well known not for profit to recruit a capable and community-minded Housing Support Worker (Casual) to support their Housing & Homelessness programs in Kingaroy. This is a practical, client-facing role with a strong admin backbone- ideal for someone who enjoys helping people navigate housing systems and build stability.

About the Role

As a Housing Support Worker, you'll support clients across Mobile Support (16-25), Immediate Housing Response (IHR), and Sustaining Tenancies. You'll help people access short-term accommodation, transition into longer-term housing, and strengthen tenancy skills- while keeping documentation, databases, and brokerage processes accurate and on time.

You'll work closely with the team and external stakeholders (housing providers, real estates, partner services) to keep referrals moving and clients supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients in a respectful, person-centred way and respond to referrals promptly
  • Complete client set-up, notes, and documentation within required timeframes
  • Support clients to develop tenancy skills and access suitable housing options (private rental, social housing, headleases, shared housing, etc.)
  • Assist with accommodation bookings and required paperwork for short-term/emergency housing
  • Administer brokerage in line with case plans and guidelines (payments, records, reporting)
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records and complete data entry across databases (including QHIP/CMS requirements)
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders (real estates, accommodation providers, service partners)
  • Monitor referral pathways and link clients to appropriate external supports


What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Qualification in community work, community development, human services (or similar)
  • Experience in community services / social support work (or similar)
  • Strong engagement skills, including working with clients with complex needs
  • Strong admin skills and IT confidence (accurate case notes and file upkeep within tight timeframes)
  • Queensland Driver's Licence
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Ability to obtain/hold a Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Flexibility to adjust hours when required to meet client needs


Desirable

  • Experience navigating housing, private rental, Centrelink, and employment assistance systems
  • Experience supporting clients to sustain tenancies and build independent living skills
