Tradewind Australia is partnering with a Private Hospital to recruit an experienced CSSD Manager to lead the Central Sterile Services Department. This is a key leadership role within the hospital, responsible for ensuring safe, compliant and efficient sterilisation services that directly support patient care and surgical outcomes.

This role will suit someone who knows sterilisation inside out, is confident leading people, and understands the importance of compliance, workflow and clear communication in a hospital environment.

About the Role

As the CSSD Manager, you will oversee the full operation of the sterilising department, ensuring all reusable medical devices are processed in line with AS 5369:2023. You will lead and develop the CSSD team, manage workflows and resources, and work closely with perioperative, theatre and infection control teams.

You will be accountable for safety, compliance, staff performance and ensuring CSSD operations support theatre activity without delays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and support the CSSD team

  • Manage rostering and staffing to meet hospital demand

  • Oversee the full sterilisation cycle: cleaning, inspection, packing, sterilisation, tracking and issue

  • Ensure compliance with AS 5369:2023 and infection control standards

  • Manage audits, reporting, documentation and GAP analysis

  • Coordinate stock control, ordering and equipment maintenance

  • Work closely with theatre, infection control and clinical teams

  • Support staff training, coaching and ongoing development

  • Assist with budget and cost centre management alongside the Perioperative Manager

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services or relevant clinical background

  • Strong working knowledge of AS 5369:2023, including audit and GAP analysis experience

  • Proven experience leading teams and managing a department

  • Understanding of budgets and P&L

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in management

  • Previous experience meeting departmental KPIs
