The role:
The Clinical Lead oversees and models high-quality, recovery-oriented clinical practice across the multidisciplinary team, ensuring care is delivered in line with organisational values, ethical standards, and evidence-informed approaches, including the Open Dialogue model. Working under the general direction of the Service Manager, the Clinical Lead has accountability for clinical governance, provides clinical guidance, supports risk management and quality assurance activities, collaborates on service performance and complaint responses. The role includes maintaining a small caseload and building workforce capability through supervision, induction, and active participation in team and governance forums.
About the Service:
The Centre provides a welcoming, low stigma and soft entry point to engagement, assessment and treatment for people who are experiencing distress or crisis as an alternative to the emergency department. The service offers immediate, short and medium term clinical and non clinical support and connect people with ongoing services allowing individuals to have greater access to early intervention and ongoing support. The services will operate 7 days a week including extended hours with options for tele-health and ongoing support if needed, including alcohol and other drugs, housing, and social services. Services will also be delivered in an outreach capacity. Multiple organisations will be co-located in the centre.
Responsibilities:
Lead and model effective practice for staff in supporting individuals, families, friends, and carers, planning and delivering group work, and liaising with local service providers.
Coach staff in a variety of practice techniques such as brief intervention, motivational interviewing and coaching, family inclusive practice, trauma informed practice, conflict resolution, emotional regulation and impulse control to support, co-occurring mental ill health and AOD use, other contemporary and evidence-based counselling modalities, and case management/care coordination.
Actively support the use and awareness of Mind policies, procedures, tools and systems through staff development and modelling.
Follow a Person-Led approach, work dialogically, apply the Open Dialogue model of work, and support the team to develop their skills in Open Dialogue.
Assist staff to problem solve, develop creative solutions and remain motivated and connected to the needs of the people supporting them to meet their own goals.
Motivate staff to work in a self-directed way to action, monitor and review the recovery needs of the individuals and their families and friends.
Positively influence and contribute to a service and team culture that prioritises client recovery goals using evidence informed practices.
Alongside the Team Leader - Lived Experience, provide support, guidance, and mentoring to staff, including thorough induction and orientation processes.
Provide practice and clinical supervision to staff who are providing direct support to a person as well as supervision to other staff, ensuring appropriate assessment, intervention, closure, and risk assessments meet Mind required data levels.
Work with the Team Leader - Lived Experience to support staff to manage risk and crisis situations, escalating incidents to the Service Manager as required.

Requirements:
Tertiary degree qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or other health related field.
Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Australian Associate of Social Workers (AASW) or relevant professional body.
Must have current arrangements for regular clinical supervision in line with professional registration requirements.
Demonstrated advanced ability in the provision of mental health risk assessment, crisis planning, alcohol and other drugs screening, management and relapse preventions, recovery planning, brief psychological therapy techniques and assertive care coordination for people experiencing mental distress and suicidality.
Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead, coach and support a team to achieve best quality service outcomes.
An understanding of the recovery-based approach to assisting people with mental health concerns.
Demonstrated experience in providing clinical assessments and evidence-based mental health interventions.
Knowledge of the QLD mental health system and local services; or demonstrated ability to rapidly develop this knowledge.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes.
Highly developed IT competence with Microsoft programs, client management systems, and the ability to adapt to new systems as they are introduced.
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and under the general instruction of the Service Manager.
Previous experience working in a clinical/healthcare setting.
Prior knowledge of the Open Dialogue approach is desirable.
A lived experience of mental ill health and recovery or experience caring for a person with mental ill health is desirable.
