The Role:
The Clinical Team Leader will work within the Clinical teams in their assigned locations.
Role Purpose:
Utilising experience in team leadership, clinical supervision, and in providing evidence-based interventions to consumers, the Clinical Team Leader will lead a multidisciplinary team of Mental Health Clinicians to support people impacted by mental illness, psychological distress and substance use or addiction.
As part of the leadership team, the Clinical Team Leader will lead by example, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion and continuous improvement while directly supporting the delivery of responsive, recovery-oriented services.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
* Providing leadership, line management, coaching and supervision of the Clinical Team
* Managing Clinical Safety and Clinical Risk and on a day-to-day basis and within the Clinical Governance Framework
* Supporting quality improvements and the development of procedures relating to clinical service delivery
* Promoting continuous quality improvements and providing clinically-sound evidence based services
This is a leadership position that plays an integral role in changing and shaping the way mental health and wellbeing services and supports are delivered to the local community. The role will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team to provide a clinically safe and seamless care experience for the service user. You will play a vital role in ensuring that participants, carers, and their families receive valuable and supportive mental health care. This role will provide evidence based inteventions and play an integral role in improving the lives of consumers.
Additional Responsibilities:
Supervise and guide the team to support participants
Engage in joint assessments with peer/wellbeing staff to create care plans and communicate and manage any emerging safety concerns
Facilitate one on one and group intervention sessions
Undertake any additional tasks as requested that reasonably fall within the scope of the position and classification.
Provide clear direction and effective communication to ensure the team works in line with the relevant values and model/s of care.
Facilitate recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of new staff.
Support training, professional development and clinical supervision (including formal board-approved supervision where applicable).
Balance the demands of line management and clinical supervision responsibilities.
Contribute to organisational strategic planning and service development in partnership with the Operations Manager and Clinical Director
Key Requirements to fulfil the role:
- Bachelor / Masters of Psychology (clinical preferred) or other relevant qualification.
- Qualification allowing for AHPRA registration as a psychologist or provisionally registered psychologist, registered nurse, occupational therapist or registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Leadership qualification or relevant Community Sector experience.
- Minimum 8+ years' mental health experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership/management role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and motivate a clinical team.
- Experience working with high-risk and complex presentations.
- Proven ability to drive system and service improvements.
- Current AHPRA registration as a psychologist or provisionally registered psychologist, registered nurse, occupational therapist or registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Understanding of legislative frameworks, accreditation standards and best practice clinical governance.
- Strong commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, inclusive practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
