About the Role:
We are recruiting an experienced Complex Trauma Practitioner to provide specialist, trauma-informed support to survivors of institutional abuse. This role involves working with diverse client groups, including people in custody, to provide counselling, case work, advocacy, and outreach.
Key Duties: - Deliver trauma-informed counselling and brief or longer-term interventions to individuals and families.
- Provide case management, advocacy, and support to navigate complex systems.
- Engage clients in custody and community settings, building trusting relationships and promoting help-seeking.
- Work collaboratively with external services and multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated care.
- Maintain accurate records, participate in supervision, and uphold quality and safety standards.
Skills & Experience - Essential: - Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health or Counselling
- At least 2 years' experience in counselling, mental health or family services
- High-level counselling skills with experience supporting survivors of trauma
- Experience working with diverse and marginalised communities
- Ability to manage a clinical caseload and conduct risk assessments
Skills & Experience - Desired: - Experience within the criminal justice system or correctional settings
- Experience working with people with disability or complex needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving skills and capacity to work independently
Other Requirements: - Current Victorian driver's licence
- Working with Children Check and Police Check (or willing to obtain)
