Aboriginal Identified Practitioner
📍 Bendigo (Relocation Required) | 💰 SCHADS Level 4-5 ($88k - $105k) + Super + Salary Packaging | 🕐 Full-time (0.8 considered)

An opportunity is available for an Aboriginal Identified Practitioner to support Aboriginal children and families by providing cultural advice and advocacy within the child and family service system.

This role is ideal for someone from community who is passionate about advocating for Aboriginal children, supporting families, and ensuring culture and connection remain central in decision-making.

About the Role

In this role, you will provide specialist cultural advice and support to ensure decisions affecting Aboriginal children are culturally safe and in the child's best interests.

You will work alongside practitioners and services to ensure Aboriginal children remain connected to family, community, and culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide cultural advice and guidance regarding Aboriginal children and families involved with services

  • Support case planning and decision-making to ensure culturally safe outcomes

  • Liaise with families, community members, and services to strengthen supports around children

  • Advocate for Aboriginal children's cultural identity, connection, and wellbeing

  • Work collaboratively with practitioners to promote culturally responsive practice

About You

We strongly encourage Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people from community to apply.

You might have experience working in community, supporting families, or advocating for others - but formal qualifications or community services experience are not required.

What matters most is that you:

  • Have a strong connection to Aboriginal community and culture

  • Are passionate about supporting Aboriginal children and families

  • Are confident advocating and speaking up for community

  • Have the ability to build strong relationships with families and services

  • Are open to relocating to Bendigo for the role
