About the Role:
A rewarding opportunity awaits a committed Secondary English, EAL and Humanities teacher to join a nurturing Secondary school in Sunshine, nestled in Melbourne's West. This full-time, permanent position is available immediately or a Term 3 start, welcoming both fresh graduates and seasoned educators alike.

Teaching students in years 9 and up within a small faculty teaching team on a campus with around 200 students, the role involves teaching EAL, English and Humanities with a flexible start from now or fresh into Term 3. Work within a small, welcoming and supportive faculty team.

Key Duties

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive English/EAL curriculum and humanities subjects such as History, Geography, Civics, Economics and Social Studies, aligned with educational standards and guidelines.
  • Adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students with varying language proficiency levels.
  • Create engaging and effective lesson plans that address the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Utilising digital resources, interactive whiteboards, educational software, and online platforms to support instruction and assessment.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate students with varying abilities and language backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with learning support staff to address the needs of students with diverse learning requirements.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on language education methodologies, educational technologies, and best practices.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Current VIT registration
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Secondary English, Hums and EAL in Australia, advantageous
  • Graduates welcome to apply and will be supported
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
