About the Role:
Are you looking for a new English/Humanities position from Term 4? Join a thriving co-educational secondary school in Melton, starting in Term 4, 2024, and extending into 2025. In this role, you'll be teaching English and Humanities to students in Years 7-10, with the chance to make a real impact in a school community of approximately 1,500 students from Years 7-12. Key duties:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive English/Humanities curriculum aligned with Victorian curriculum, covering various topics such as literature, writing, grammar, history, geography, and social studies.
- Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, incorporating a combination of lectures, discussions, activities, and projects to enhance students' understanding and critical thinking skills.
- Encourage students to think critically, analyse information, evaluate evidence, and draw informed conclusions about humanities topics and issues. Promote inquiry-based learning and research skills to develop students' intellectual curiosity and independent thinking.
- Collaborate with colleagues in English, history, geography, and other humanities disciplines to create interdisciplinary projects, units, and activities that integrate multiple subject areas and foster cross-curricular connections.
- Engage in continuous professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in humanities education, teaching methodologies, curriculum developments, and technology integration. Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences relevant to humanities teaching.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 4-year Bachelor degree with minimum 1 year Teaching qualification
- Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
- Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Demonstrate previous experience in teaching 7-10 English/Humanities
- Open to Graduate Teachers and those eligible for permission to teach
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
