About the Role:
A rewarding opportunity awaits a committed Secondary English/Humanities teacher at a leading Independent School in Melton, located in Melbourne's West. This permanent position is tailored to instruct students from years 7-10 in state-of-the-art facilities.

The school, renowned globally with 125 campuses worldwide and a student body of over 9000, prides itself on its innovative approach to education. The Melton Campus, the largest in Victoria, serves local students as well as those from nearby regions such as Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne, Sunbury, and Werribee. With dedicated learning spaces for both Primary and Secondary education, the campus currently accommodates 225 students onsite.

Key Duties

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive English/Humanities curriculum aligned with Victorian curriculum, covering various topics such as literature, writing, grammar, history, geography, and social studies.
  • Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, incorporating a combination of lectures, discussions, activities, and projects to enhance students' understanding and critical thinking skills.
  • Encourage students to think critically, analyse information, evaluate evidence, and draw informed conclusions about humanities topics and issues. Promote inquiry-based learning and research skills to develop students' intellectual curiosity and independent thinking.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in English, history, geography, and other humanities disciplines to create interdisciplinary projects, units, and activities that integrate multiple subject areas and foster cross-curricular connections.
  • Engage in continuous professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in humanities education, teaching methodologies, curriculum developments, and technology integration. Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences relevant to humanities teaching.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Current VIT registration
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching English (as a first language) and Humanities
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
