An exceptional opportunity is on the horizon for a seasoned English/Maths Teacher to join a highly regarded Catholic Secondary school in Altona North. This full-time position, starting in mid-April (Term 2) and extending to the year's end, offers the possibility of ongoing employment. Responsibilities entail teaching English to students in years 9-11 and General Maths to students in years 7-8. Key Duties
- Planning and delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons that align with the VCE English and lower years Maths curriculum, covering topics such as literature analysis, writing skills, algebra, geometry, and numeracy.
- Designing and administering assessments to measure students' understanding of English and Maths concepts, their ability to analyse texts, solve mathematical problems, and apply mathematical reasoning.
- Providing individualized support and guidance to students to help them achieve their academic goals in English and Maths.
- Implement differentiated instruction strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with learning difficulties, gifted students, and English language learners.
- Integrating technology into English and Maths instruction to enhance learning experiences and facilitate student engagement.
- Collaborating with colleagues within the English and Maths departments and across other subject areas to share best practices, develop interdisciplinary projects, and support students' holistic development.
Skills & Experience:
- Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Hold a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
- Experience in VCE English and General Maths instruction
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years Highly developed interpersonal skills
- An understanding and appreciation of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions are essential for teaching within the Catholic system, or a preparedness to be working within this system
