Family Violence Practitioner - Eastern Suburbs

Salary - $59 - $62 per hour (depending on experience) + super

About the Role:

We are recruiting an experienced Family Violence Practitioner to work with a leading not for profit organisation. The role will provide specialist family violence services to vulnerable families in the Eastern Metropolitan Region. You will be responsible for providing case management and case coordination to Aboriginal women and children. The role is a Fulltime locum contract, with the view to move to permanent.

Key Duties:

  • Deliver quality intake, outreach case management and case coordination to a case load of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who are affected by family violence and their children.
  • Facilitate referrals to other services according to the needs identified in the case plan such as mental health, housing, alcohol and other drug services and other community services.
  • Attend appointments and provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their families.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with other Family Violence services and other government and community organisations to support outcomes.
  • Lead housing responses for ICM team including referral options and advice.

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or related field
  • Minimum 12 months experience working in a Family Violence Program
  • Understanding of family violence theoretical frameworks and interventions
  • Comprehensive MARAM training and experience utilising this with victim survivors and people who use violence
  • Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities

You will also need to be willing to provide 2x professional references + undergo a Working with Children Check and Police Check.
