Family Violence Counsellor / Practitioner - Sydney region


Salary - $93,000-$95,000 (depending on experience) + Super + Salary packaging


Job Summary: Counsellors with experience working within the domestic and family violence sector with a focus on providing counselling advisory and a referral service to local and longer-term support services

About the Role:
The organisation we are representing is looking for a Family Violence Counsellor / Practitioner based in the Sydney region.


Recruiting experienced counsellors to join a multi-disciplinary team. This role will support the incoming referrals as well as self-referred individuals, assessing risk and triaging appropriately for the Intake and Assessment team. There are both permanent ongoing and casual locum positions available.

Key duties:
· Provide professional family violence counselling and advisory support services
· Provide referral information to enable clients and others to access other local, community-based support services where required.
· Provide secondary consultation services to frontline workers seeking secondary consultation and support.
· Use professional risk assessment and best practice when engaging with clients and engage appropriate risk management follow-up
· Ensure all cases are managed professionally, are accurate and the records up-to- date and entered into the relevant CRM data base

Skills & Experience:
· A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling or Psychology.
· Specialist knowledge and skills, including intake and risk assessment. Prior experience providing family violence services is highly desirable.
· A demonstrated understanding of the social and gendered context of family violence and the impact of violence on women and children.
· Understanding of legislation, risk management and reforms pertaining to the family violence sector.
· Experience in the delivery of counselling or case management services either face to face or over the telephone.
You will also have or be willing to undergo a Police Check and in some cases a Working with Children Check.

· Legal entitlement to work in Australia.
· Excellent written and verbal communication.
· Problem Solving Skills.
