Family Violence & Children's Practitioners - Western Suburbs


Two x 0.8 FTE and One x 0.9 FTE | On-site at Women's Refuge | SCHADS Level 5 | $100K + super + salary packaging

We're supporting a respected Family Violence Refuge Service in Melbourne's Western Suburbs to recruit passionate and experienced Family Violence Practitioners and Children's Practitioners ๐ŸŒฟ

These are meaningful opportunities to provide trauma-informed, empowering support to women and children experiencing family violence. You'll be part of a warm, collaborative, and values-driven team that genuinely cares about creating safety and positive change.

About the Roles

  • Two 0.8 FTE roles and one 0.9 FTE role
  • On-site at a women's refuge
  • SCHADS Level 5, approx. $100K + super + salary packaging or $63ph (locum/casual rates)
  • Flexible start times available (e.g. 10am starts)
  • Immediate interviews available
  • Locum or permanent arrangements considered

Family Violence Practitioner

You'll hold a caseload and provide holistic, person-centred support to women experiencing family and domestic violence, including:

  • Intake, comprehensive risk assessments, and safety planning using the MARAM Framework
  • Case planning, reviews, exit planning, and advocacy
  • Coordinating with other services to ensure safety and recovery

Children's Practitioner

You'll focus on the emotional and developmental wellbeing of children and infants within the refuge ๐Ÿ’›

  • Provide age-appropriate emotional and therapeutic support
  • Collaborate closely with Family Violence Practitioners and parents
  • Experience with infants is preferred but not essential

About You

You're a warm, adaptable practitioner with a gentle and collaborative approach. You bring experience in the family violence or child and family sector and a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice.

You'll also bring:

  • Qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Psychology or related field
  • Experience working with women, children, and families impacted by violence
  • Understanding of MARAM and Family Violence Information Sharing (FVISS)
