Foster and Kinship Care Case Manager
Pay: $90,000 + super
Location: Ipswich, QLD
Employment Type: Full-time

Tradewind Australia is partnering with a well-established community services organisation in the Ipswich region to recruit a dedicated Foster and Kinship Care Case Practitioner. This is a full-time opportunity to support children and young people, working within a culturally informed, trauma-aware framework alongside a supportive and values-driven team.

About the Role
As a Foster and Kinship Care Case Manager, you will work closely with foster and kinship carers to ensure children and young people are safe, supported, and connected to their culture and community. This role combines carer recruitment, assessment, training and ongoing case support, with a strong focus on placement stability and positive outcomes.

You'll collaborate with families, community stakeholders and Child Safety, applying a culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based approach across all aspects of your work.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, assess and onboard foster and kinship carers, including running information sessions
  • Deliver training and ongoing support to carers to build capability and confidence
  • Provide end-to-end case management support, including supervision and advocacy for carers
  • Monitor placements and work with stakeholders to ensure safe, stable care arrangements
  • Contribute to case planning, including reunification and permanency planning
  • Maintain accurate case notes, reports and compliance documentation
  • Apply the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle (ATSICPP) in practice
  • Build strong relationships with community, including Elders and cultural advisors
  • Participate in reflective practice, supervision and continuous improvement

    What You'll Bring
    Essential
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology or related field
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in child protection, out-of-home care or family support
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice
  • Knowledge of Queensland child protection legislation and frameworks
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and documentation skills
  • Current Driver's Licence, Blue Card and relevant checks

    Desirable
  • Experience supporting foster and kinship carers
  • Confidence delivering training or group facilitation
  • Experience in placement matching and care planning
