Foster and Kinship Care Practitioner

Pay: SCHADS Level 4.1 - $44.59/hr + super + salary packaging
Location: Kingaroy & South Burnett region (QLD)
Employment Type: Full-time - flexible hours to meet client needs

Tradewind Australia is partnering with a resected community organisation to recruit a dedicated Foster and Kinship Care Practitioner. This full-time role offers the opportunity to support foster and kinship carers across the South Burnett region, helping to create safe, stable and nurturing homes for children and young people in care.
You'll join a committed, community-focused team making a real impact in the lives of children, carers and families.

About the Role
Working within the Partners in Foster Care program, you will provide practical and emotional support to a caseload of foster and kinship carers. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will play a key role in maintaining stable placements and promoting the safety, wellbeing and development of children and young people under Child Protection Orders.
You will collaborate with carers, Child Safety, and other stakeholders to ensure children's needs are understood, responded to and advocated for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practical and emotional support to foster and kinship carers
  • Contribute to safe, stable and nurturing placements for children and young people
  • Conduct assessments of potential carers and reassessments of existing carers
  • Support carers to understand trauma, child development and complex behaviours
  • Facilitate communication between carers, Child Safety, children and other stakeholders
  • Participate in an on-call roster to support carers outside standard hours
  • Maintain accurate, timely records in line with legislative and organisational requirements
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance service quality

What You'll Bring
Essential

  • Industry experience in Child Protection or Human Services
  • Understanding of the Child Protection Act, relevant policy, legislation and Industry Standards
  • Knowledge of child development and trauma-informed care
  • Experience in, or the aptitude to learn, assessment tools/techniques for carer suitability and reassessment
  • Ability to respond to the complex needs of children, young people and carers
  • Diploma-level qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Mental Health, or a related field
  • Valid Queensland Driver Licence
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Working with Children Blue Card
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Licensing of Care Services Suitability Check (LCS) or eligibility to obtain
