Tradewind Australia is partnering with a well-established regional community services organisation to recruit an experienced General Manager - Family Services for a senior locum leadership opportunity based in Mildura.
This role will suit an accomplished Social Work-qualified leader with strong Family Services or Community Services experience, who is confident providing strategic and operational oversight across multi-site, multi-state programs. Rental assistance may be available for the right candidate.
About the Role
Reporting into senior executive leadership, the General Manager - Family Services will provide strategic and operational leadership across Child and Family Services programs delivered in Victoria and New South Wales.
You will oversee service delivery, workforce performance, funding compliance and stakeholder engagement across two program areas, with direct responsibility for senior managers and team leaders. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong sector knowledge, sound judgement and the ability to lead through complexity.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across Family Services programs in VIC and NSW
- Direct line management of senior leaders, including Program/Service Managers
- Oversight of workforce performance, service quality and continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with funding agreements, budgets and reporting requirements
- Lead financial and operational sustainability within program areas
- Contribute to organisational strategy, growth opportunities and service development
- Build strong relationships with government, community and sector stakeholders
- Promote best-practice governance, risk management and clinical oversight
Workforce Overview
- Direct reports: 2 senior managers
- Victoria: 3 Team Leaders, approximately 20 staff
- NSW: 2 Team Leaders, approximately 20 staff
- Teams include Case/Social Workers and Administration staff
What You'll Bring
Essential:
- Qualification in Social Work and/or significant leadership experience within Family Services or Community Services
- Demonstrated experience managing Program Managers and/or Team Leaders
- Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Highly Regarded:
- Experience in not-for-profit or community-based service delivery
- Strong financial and business acumen
- Strong understanding of funding models across multiple states
- Understanding of contemporary issues in Child and Family Services
