About the Role:
A great opportunity has opened for a Secondary teacher to join a welcoming P-9 school community in Truganina, starting in Term 1, 2025. This role involves working closely with the Sports team, teaching PE/Health to students in Years 7-9. The school is renowned for its approachable leadership and commitment to creating a nurturing environment that equips students with essential life skills. With a focus on Indigenous Cultural Inclusion, these elements are thoughtfully woven into the curriculum. Graduates and those with permission to teach are encouraged to apply, with extensive support available for all new staff

Key duties:

  • Designing and implementing engaging and developmentally appropriate PE lessons that align with the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Providing clear instruction and demonstration of movement skills, sports techniques, and fitness exercises.
  • Teach a range of topic related to physical education including health and well-being, nutrition, mental health and personal development.
  • Conducting physical fitness assessments to evaluate students' strength, flexibility, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness levels.
  • Ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment by implementing appropriate safety procedures and risk management strategies during physical activities and sports.
  • Organizing and maintaining PE equipment, sports gear, and facilities to ensure they are safe, functional, and accessible for students.
  • Integrating health education components into PE lessons to promote students' understanding of health-related topics such as nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and the benefits of physical activity.
  • Assessing students' progress and achievement in PE through various forms of assessment, such as skill demonstrations, performance tasks, fitness tests, and written assignments.

Skills & Experience:

  • Full Australian Working right
  • Minimum 4 year Bachelors Degree with at least 1 year teaching qualification
  • Current VIT registration or working towards this
  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Ability to provide contact details for at least two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
