Lead Maths Tutor


Salary Range: $100-$150 per hour (plus paid prep time)
Location: Sydney (Inner West & Inner City)

Tradewind Australia is proud to partner with a growing, high-performing tutoring organisation in Sydney to recruit an experienced Lead Maths Tutor. This is a unique opportunity for a confident STEM graduate or experienced tutor to take ownership of structured, high-impact small-group sessions across multiple schools.

With fixed timetables, premium hourly rates and no curriculum planning required, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with students, leading sessions and supporting other tutors - without the admin overload.

About the Organisation

Our client delivers structured, results-focused maths tutoring programs. These are carefully planned to support student understanding, confidence and retention, with a strong emphasis on consistency and quality delivery.

All lesson planning and materials are provided, allowing tutors to focus on what they do best - teaching, mentoring and managing engaging learning environments.

About the Role

As the Lead Maths Tutor, you will run morning and afternoon tutoring sessions across Inner West and Inner City school locations. You will lead lessons, guide supporting tutors and manage student behaviour to ensure sessions run smoothly and effectively.

The timetable will be fixed for the term (and potentially the full year), providing stability and predictable hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver engaging maths tutoring sessions

  • Support and guide other tutors during lessons

  • Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a focused learning environment

  • Clearly explain tasks and concepts to students

  • Follow provided lesson plans and program structure

  • Travel between school locations as required

You Will Have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Maths, Physics, Science or a STEM-related degree
    (Biology-only degrees are not suitable for this role)

  • Demonstrated classroom or tutoring experience

  • Strong confidence leading groups of students

  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills

  • A valid Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one)

  • A valid drivers licence and access to a car

Teacher registration is not required.
