Job Description

Role Purpose:

Provide evidence based interventions to consumers accessing the Mental Health Centre.

You will play a vital role in ensuring that participants, carers, and their families receive valuable and supportive mental health care. This role will provide evidence based inteventions and play an integral role in improving the lives of consumers

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide 5 client consultations per 7.5-hour day.
  • Undertake intake assessments using the bio-psychosocial and initial assessment tools.
  • Deliver ongoing evidence-based interventions to consumers and their families as defined by the needs determined in the initial assessment.
  • Develop, review, and close treatment plans in partnership with the consumers and their identified supports.
  • Assess, monitor, and manage the client's mental health and wellbeing (including physical health concerns) and risks; and collaborate with other health professionals, partner organizations and stakeholders as required.
  • Work within our clients framework of early intervention, assertive treatment, stigmatization, diversity, inclusion, and non-discrimination
  • Participate in multidisciplinary clinical and team meetings and case conferences that contribute to high-quality outcomes for consumers and their families and carers as delegated by your manager.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision and line management discussions with your manager.
  • Identify and take an active role in quality and service improvement activities.
  • Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through a commitment to professional development and active learning within the team.
  • Plan and participate in training and secondary consultation as required.
  • Write reports as required for internal/external use.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Qualification allowing for AHPRA registration as a psychologist or provisionally registered psychologist, registered nurse, occupational therapist or registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Current AHPRA registration as a psychologist or provisionally registered psychologist, registered nurse, occupational therapist or registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking comprehensive mental health assessments and development of intervention plans in collaboration with consumers and their families and carers.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in providing holistic, evidence-based therapeutic services.
  • Understanding of the biological, psychological, and social underpinnings of mental health.
  • Ability to work with autonomy and as an integral member of an established multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work autonomously under limited supervision, exercising sound professional judgement and seeking advice and consultation when appropriate
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team Understanding of legislative frameworks relevant to mental health consumers and families and carers
