Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and values-driven NDIS Appeals Advocate to support people with psycosocial disability who are seeking to appeal decisions made by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
This role plays a critical part in ensuring people with psycosocial disability are informed, supported, and empowered to exercise choice and control, and that their rights and interests are respected throughout the appeals process.
About the Role
The NDIS Appeals Advocate works with a high level of independence and autonomy, while also collaborating closely with the NDIS Lead and broader advocacy team. You will provide accurate information, practical assistance, and individual advocacy support to people navigating complex NDIS decision-making and review processes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide information and advocacy support to people with psychosocial disability seeking to appeal NDIA decisions
Support individuals to understand their rights, options, and the NDIS appeals process
Assist with preparation for internal reviews and external appeals
Advocate for outcomes that reflect the person's goals, needs, and preferences
Maintain accurate case notes and documentation
Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external services as required
Uphold principles of dignity, choice, inclusion, and self-determination
About You
Demonstrated experience in advocacy,mental health services, community services, or a related field
Strong understanding of the NDIS, NDIA decision-making, or administrative review processes
Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a team environment
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
