Payroll Officer (Locum)
Pay: Approx. $47.44 - $53.77 per hour + super (equivalent to $75K-$85K + super)
Location: Preston - Hybrid
Contract Type: Full-time locum contract until end of July | possibility of temp-to-perm

Tradewind Australia is partnering with a well-established community services organisation in Preston to recruit an experienced Payroll Officer for an immediate-start locum contract running through to the end of July.

This role sits within a supportive payroll team and offers the opportunity to work in a high-volume environment with strong systems and established processes. There is also a strong possibility for the role to transition from temporary to permanent for the right candidate.

Please note: Only candidates with Chris21 payroll system experience will be considered.

About the Role

Working within a collaborative payroll team that includes a Payroll Manager, Team Lead and Senior Payroll Officer, you will support the delivery of accurate and timely payroll processing across a large workforce.

This position will initially be office-based for onboarding and training, with hybrid flexibility (60% home / 40% office) available after the first 2-3 weeks. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll within a high-volume environment
  • Maintain payroll data including new starters, changes and terminations
  • Process timesheets primarily through HR21 portal, with some manual processing
  • Respond to payroll queries from staff and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure payroll compliance with legislative and organisational requirements

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in a payroll officer role within a high-volume environment
  • Chris21 payroll system experience - essential (applications without this will not be considered)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet payroll deadlines
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work collaboratively within a payroll team

Desirable

  • Exposure to the SCHADS Award
  • Experience working within the community services sector
  • Strong Excel capability
