Practice Supervisor
This position provides professional practice supervision, training and development to both internal and external stakeholders. Practice Supervisors have a key role in supporting and developing robust, ethical and competent practices as well as supporting overall organisational goals and activities. Supervisors are members of the Management Team and participate in a suite of leadership functions such as strategic planning, on call, professional development of staff and their practices to ensure safe, quality, appropriate practice approaches.
About the Position
The Practice Supervision team's function is to support the development and implementation of appropriate and relevant practice skills and approaches that respond to the needs of individual staff, program requirements and organisational needs.
Key Responsibilities Include:
❖ Provide practice supervision and professional development to supervisees to improve and support professional practice, and skills.
❖ Liaison with program managers in relation to identified and emerging needs in the areas of professional practice and skills development of staff.
❖ Provide supervision to provisionally registered psychologists (where applicable).
❖ Understanding of the appropriate requirements for ethical and professional practice in accordance with the requirements of relevant professional bodies and funding body requirements.
❖ Research and develop evidence based frameworks and interventions for the purpose of informing and supporting best practice in programs.
❖ Maintain accurate records of all supervisory activities.
❖ Participate in performance management processes for staff including probation reviews, performance improvement processes, and performance appraisals.
❖ Working in collaboration with program managers to support the understanding and implementation of the organisations values, mission, and policies into all aspects of their work Develop and/or deliver identified workshops or training as required for both internal and external stakeholders.
❖ Work with program management to review the quality of all clinical work including file audits/reviews, practice observation.
❖ Work collaboratively with Managers, and Human Resources to assist in the development of and implementation of performance improvement plans for supervisees.
❖ Maintain proactive communication with program management to ensure clear and consistent approaches to the support and development of staff and their performance.
❖ Comply with legislation (including Workplace Health and Safety, Privacy and Equal Employment Opportunity), service agreements and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
❖ Conduct duties in accordance with the Supervision Framework and practice standards.
❖ Support and contribute to program and service reviews as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
The Position Requires
❖ Tertiary qualification in psychology or social work and at least five years subsequent experience working in the social or community services sector.
❖ Extensive experience providing professional supervision/supervising staff/teams and the ability to both model and foster in others strong professional ethics and technical skills in relation to the work and services of the organisation.
❖ Demonstrated high level of understanding of a range of therapeutic interventions for children, individuals, families and couples and the ability to competently articulate and utilise them in supervisory work. Including the management of complex cases, risk assessment and issues associated with child safety and domestic & family violence issues. ❖ Active participation in ongoing research and development in a range of therapeutic, evidenced based interventions and participative contribution of new funding opportunities.
❖ Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to maintain a robust working relationship across multiple levels and disciplines.
❖ Ability to manage gender, cultural and power issues through the supervision process, and ability to give constructive and supportive feedback and challenge when required.
❖ Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop and deliver training packages for professional development purposes for staff and other applications as identified.
❖ Highly developed organisational, time management and administrative skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise and work to strict timeframes.
❖ Current open drivers licence.
❖ Current, and ability to retain, both a Working with Children Blue Card check and Disability services Yellow Card.
