About the role

The Preschool Field Officer (PSFO) program is funded by the Victorian Department of Education to support the access, inclusion and participation of all children, including those with additional needs, in a kindergarten program. This includes children enrolled Four-Year-Old Kindergarten, funded Three-Year-Old Kindergarten and Early Start Kindergarten.

Funded kindergarten programs are provided in a variety of settings including children's centres, long day care centres, community kindergartens, independent schools and some government schools.

PSFO's work within the context of the kindergarten program. The PSFO works with the early childhood educators to enhance their capacity and confidence in providing an inclusive program that is responsive to the needs of all children.

This role is covering Casey and Cardinia, the PSFO must go to Narrewarren office on a Thursday as everyone is in on a Thursday.

In this 6-month contract, you'll work alongside kindergartens to build educator capability, provide consultancy and coaching, and strengthen outcomes for children with additional needs. Ideal for an experienced ECT with strong knowledge of inclusion, community engagement, and Victorian early years frameworks. A meaningful role where your impact is felt every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside kindergarten educators using a strengths-based, capacity-building approach to support inclusive practice.
  • Provide on-site coaching, modelling and consultation to build educator confidence in supporting children with additional needs.
  • Partner closely with families to understand goals, share strategies and promote meaningful participation for each child.
  • Collaborate with allied health and early intervention professionals to ensure consistent, evidence-based support.
  • Develop tailored recommendations, action plans and resources that align with the VEYLDF and high-quality early childhood practice.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, case notes and progress reports in line with organisational, legislative and child safety requirements.
  • Contribute to professional learning opportunities and promote best practice inclusion across the early years sector.

You will have:

  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or equivalent ACECQA-approved qualification)with Post graduate Studies in Special Educaton/Disability preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of inclusive practice, early intervention principles and child development.
  • Proven experience as a Pre-School Field Officer.
  • Experience working with children with additional needs and partnering with families and educators.
  • Demonstrated capability in coaching, mentoring or capacity-building roles within early childhood settings.
  • Sound understanding of the VEYLDF, Victorian kindergarten funding streams and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and professional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage a varied caseload and maintain high-quality documentation.
  • A commitment to child safety, ethical practice and supporting every child's right to participate.
