About the Role:

Attention all passionate Primary Kitchen Garden teachers! Tradewind is teaming up with a charming Catholic Primary School in Hoppers Crossing to offer an extraordinary Kitchen Garden Program opportunity, beginning immediately and extending into 2025. This flexible role, with part-time to full-time options, places you at the heart of the specialist team. Starting this term, your contract will run through the end of the year and into 2025. You'll inspire students from Foundation to Year 6, with the added benefit of dedicated planning time alongside other specialist teachers. Key duties:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that integrate the Kitchen Garden Program into the broader primary school curriculum, aligning with the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Oversee the planning, planting, and maintenance of the school garden, ensuring it is a productive and educational space for students.

  • Provide students with hands-on experiences in both the garden and kitchen, fostering a practical understanding of sustainability, biology, and agriculture.
  • Teach students about environmental stewardship, including composting, water conservation, and organic gardening practices.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during garden and kitchen activities, teaching them to use tools and equipment safely.
  • Manage the resources required for the garden, including seeds, plants, tools, and materials, ensuring they are well-maintained and readily available.
  • Oversee the inventory of kitchen supplies and ingredients, ensuring that everything is prepared for cooking sessions.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Current VIT registration
  • 4-year Bachelor Degree, containing at least 1 year teaching qualification
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Primary in Australia
  • Kitchen Garden experience required
  • Experience working with a Catholic school advantageous
  • Ability to provide contact details for two-three education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
